His success in the field of orthopedic surgery may be credited to his impressive academic background: he graduated Summa Cum Laude from the City College of New York, with honors in Biology, in 1989. In 1993, he obtained his medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and was elected into the school's Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.
